Aboriginal Opportunities Committee

Mandate

To raise awareness and understanding of Aboriginal issues and perspectives within the Chamber's membership and the Calgary community at large. The Aboriginal Opportunities Committee is committed to creating and promoting the employment and business opportunities of Aboriginal people in and around the Calgary region.

2010 - 2011 Committee Focus Areas

1.   Improve Aboriginal labour market outcomes through the Aboriginal Workforce Initiative which includes:

  • Workforce preparation
  • Awareness Training
  • Stronger linkage with local Aboriginal communities and organizations

2.   Improve businesses and Aboriginal economic opportunity linkage
3.   Understand Aboriginal education policy issues
4.   Ensure sufficient urban Aboriginal supports and connections
