Tax & Economic Affairs Committee

Mandate

To develop and advocate budgetary, fiscal management, taxation and regulatory solutions to all levels of government to position Calgary as the leading engine for economic growth in the country.


2009 - 2010 Committee Focus Areas

  • Long-Term Budgeting Framework and Fiscal Responsibility
    - Municipal - controlling spending, minimizing fee and tax increases, improving fiscal management and decision-making, review of the scope of municipal services.
    - Provincial - savings framework, balanced budgeting, health care expenditure management.
    - Federal - repayment of the deficit, securities regulation, economic growth strategies, protectionism, stimulus package, and cap & trade economics.
