Environment Committee

Mandate

As environmental issues and concerns become increasingly important to business worldwide, the role of the Chamber's Environment Committee continues to grow. The group provides advice to government business leaders on policy initiatives, and contributes to the creation of sustainable business models. Participation on the Committee provides the opportunity to learn, influence policy development related to members' priorities, and network with industry leaders and key decision-makers.


2009 - 2010 Committee Focus Areas

  • Carbon management policy / strategy (i.e. emissions pricing, research / investment, energy efficiency, carbon capture and storage, Canada-U.S. policy harmonization)
  • Provincial Land Use Framework (i.e. cumulative effects management)
  • Alternative energy and electricity transmission (including the role of nuclear power)
  • Water policy
