Municipal Directions

Mandate

To examine community and municipal issues from the perspective of Calgary’s business/corporate community and provide the Chamber with advice and ideas on how it can support and influence Calgary’s development as a place in which businesses can grow and prosper and how community needs can be met. By developing an issue evaluation framework, the committee is able to prioritize emerging and long-term municipal issues and initiatives.

2010 - 2011 Committee Focus Areas

  • Municipal governance transparency and accountability in policies, budgets and programs
  • Opportunities to build capacity and collaboration within the business, corporate and other communities to address community and municipal challenges.
  • Addressing barriers to the development of a better and stronger community (Eg. silos, institutional or organizational competition, partisanship, social conditions, etc.)
