What a week it has been!

From Insider Tours at four fantastic small businesses, to networking events all over the city, to last night's standing room only show at MacEwan Hall, this has been the biggest and best Small Business Week Calgary has ever seen.

The Small Business Week Awards were the perfect ending, starting off with the Small Business Expo before segueing into the evening’s program, hosted by Rosa Marchitelli from CBC news Calgary. Wellington Holbrook with our powering sponsor ATB Financial, told the audience how important small businesses are to Calgary's economic engine as he painted a positive picture of the current economic situation in in our city. Holbrook says that after the 2008 recession and the June floods, consumers are feeling confident, with purchasing going up over 6% from last year.

The winner had to demonstrate significant business achievement, sustained financial growth and performance as well as service excellence, involvement in the community, innovation and a commitment to sustainability. The panel of judges felt that Village had shown all of the criteria and were pleased to name them this year's winner.

The team at Village were all smiles as co-founder Jim Button took to the microphone, saluting their fellow nominees across all categories as well as giving a hats off to the Chamber for vitalizing Calgary's small business community.
