Mature workers represent a significant source of underutilized talent and labour supply in Alberta that can be used to address the province’s labour shortage. But keeping these workers in the workplace is difficult, since the federal government’s current system of retirement programs and policies encourages them to retire early even though they may be eager to keep on working.
