Michael Shaw, who was born and raised in the Calgary area, comes from a long line of Calgarians. His great great grandparents, Samuel and Helen Shaw, first settled in the area along the banks of Fish Creek in 1883.
On the other side of Michael’s family, his great great grandfather, F.E. Osbourne, served as Mayor from 1926 to 1929. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary. He is a member of APEGA and currently serves with the Canadian Gas Association as a member of the Standing Committee on Operations and the Natural Gas Innovation Fund.
Employed with ATCO for 14 years, Mr. Shaw has held a wide variety of roles – primarily in the gas distribution division in Calgary. In addition, he spent time working in Lethbridge and more recently Mexico City. Currently, Mr. Shaw holds the position of Vice President, Calgary Region Operations, Gas Distribution. As a member of the senior leadership team in the ATCO Pipelines & Liquids Global Business Unit, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of ATCO’s gas distribution system in Calgary and surrounding area. In this role Mr. Shaw is focused on helping businesses in Calgary thrive through access to safe, reliable and affordable energy.
Mr. Shaw has been very involved in the communities where he lives and works and has served as a Rotarian and Chair of the Lethbridge Dragonboat Festival. He regularly participates in many of ATCO’s community focused activities. Michael and his wife, Erin, are proud parents of two boys aged 7 and 4, Aiden and Owen. Away from work, he enjoys golf, skiing, hiking and spending time with his family at many of Calgary’s great parks. Needless to say, Mr. Shaw is a very proud Calgarian and is driven to help Calgary continue to be one of the world’s premiere locations to live, work and conduct business.
