A perennial favourite of Small Business Week Calgary, McLeod Law’s evening with the entrepreneurs is an event that needs to be on your radar. Featuring up-close and personal interviews with dynamic local entrepreneurs, moderated by Robert Fooks from McLeod Law, this year focuses on the stories of two successful (and unique) health and wellness businesses:

They will be putting it all on the table for you, sharing their unique stories, insights, lessons learned in business, and how they built successful companies from the ground up.

This evening will inspire, enlighten and connect local entrepreneurs, business owners and leaders of any stage of company, from early to mature, and everything in between.

Pair that with some delicious hors d’oeuvres plus an after-work beverage, and this is one Small Business Week Calgary event you won’t want to miss.

About Pippa Blair

Pippa Blair completed a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing from the University of Calgary in 2007. After working as an account manager with brands such as Nike, HBC, Rogers, and Kids Cancer Care for two years in the marketing and sponsorship industry, Pippa came up for air and travelled Southeast Asia and Europe for one year. After gaining further marketing experience at Rogers Communications for another two years, Pippa decided to pursue her interest in perinatal health and returned to the University of Calgary in 2012 to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and worked at Foothills Hospital as a Labour and Delivery Registered Nurse.

Within a week of “leaving” the marketing world in 2012 to start nursing school, Pippa’s sister-in-law, Neige Blair approached her with a business idea to manufacture Neige’s truly effective natural deodorant formulation. “routine. natural deodorant” launched at Calgary’s Market Collective and is now available in over 1000 retail locations worldwide. Donating a percentage of sales back to their community, routine emphasizes local and ethical practices. As co-founders of routine inc., Neige and Pippa Blair were added to Avenue Magazine’s 2015 Top 40 Under 40.

About Neige Blair

Neige Blair is co-founder, Creative Director and the “right brain” of routine inc. Originally interested in politics as a career path and majoring in Political Science, her creative and entrepreneurial spirit led her in a different direction. Neige spent much of her time outdoors travelling and exploring, snowboarding, painting, playing in bands. Always with her library of botanicals and essential oils in tow, she tinkered and honed her craft of making natural, personal and home care products. After starting a family, she worked as a freelance writer and ran community programs for children and seniors as well as spearheading two custom clothing startups.

It wasn’t long before she made the decision to take her talents with design and product development and turn them into something more lucrative that would support the local economy. She named her best product routine. An effective, natural deodorant she felt was lacking in mainstream retail. She enlisted the help of her sister in law Pippa with marketing and business expertise and together, they have grown routine into Canada’s premier natural deodorant company, winning awards, media praise. They partnered with Canada’s largest wellness distributor, followed by distribution contracts in the UAE, USA and Europe. Neige and Pippa were awarded Avenue magazines top 40 under 40 in November 2015.
