Small Business Week 2013 – Awards and Tradeshow

4:30 pm – Registration opens
5:00 pm – Business Expo begins in MacEwan Hall
7:00 pm – Awards Gala
8:15 pm – End of awards presentation, continuation of expo
9:30 pm – Thanks for joining us – see you again in 2014!
Join us for appetizers between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm (no dinner needed) with drinks available at a cash bar.
Business casual attire is suggested but feel free to come in whatever you are comfortable networking in.
Directions and Parking
The 2013 Small Business Week Awards and Expo is taking place at the MacEwan Conference and Events Centre on the University of Calgary campus.
If you are not familiar with the campus we suggest you park in lot 10,11 or 12 which is easily accessible off of 32 Avenue NW via Crowchild Trail.
If you are going by CTrain, take the 201 line (Crowfoot direction) and get off at University station.
About the Awards and Expo
This event gives businesses the opportunity to display their products or services, discover new businesses and network with other people in Calgary’s business community. We will also have an awards presentation that reveals the emerging stars of the city’s small business scene.
The awards, which recognize businesses with fewer than 100 employees, are handed out in six categories: Environmental Stewardship, Customer Service Excellence, Community Involvement, Innovation, Breakout Business and finally, the Small Business of the Year Award.
A keynote presentation will be given by one of Calgary’s top entrepreneurs, Patrick Lor, CEO and co-founder at Dissolve. Lor is a seasoned veteran of the startup world having previously co-founded iStockphoto and been President, North America for Fotolia. He also gives back heavily to the Alberta startup community by being part of the A100 and C100, a mentor at GrowLab and FounderFuel as well as an organizer of DemoCamp.
The high energy tradeshow attracts more than 30 vendors and 300 attendees and is one of the best connecting events of the year for small business.
