Unapologetic sales: Best practices for the year ahead
On International Women’s Day the Chamber is hosting an afternoon of learning dedicated to sales professionals. Split up into three parts (workshop, panel discussion, networking), this afternoon will leave you inspired to chase your sales targets and grow your network.
Agenda for the day will be:
1:00 pm – 1:30 pm Doors open and Registration
1:30 pm – 3:00 pm [Workshop] How the Professional Saleswoman Can Master the Buyer/Seller Dance
Sandra Crozier-McKee of Sandler Training in Calgary, will provide insights and practical how to’s for overcoming some of the most common concerns and self-doubts while erasing the negative connotations of selling.
The tools you will leave with include:
- Introducing the Up-Front Contract personally and professionally
- A Sales Process – What is it and why you should have one
- Asking questions that get answers
- Slow down to speed up
- What the prospect really wants
- Transcending the Salesperson stereotype
3:00 pm – 4:00 pm [Panel discussion] Unapologetic saleswomen
Following the workshop you will have the opportunity to ask successful saleswomen questions about their selling techniques and tips to hit your sales targets. Nisha Berman of Sandler Training and Maria Martiniello of the Calgary Zoo, will cover everything from work-life balance, creating achievable stretch goals, and meeting the right contacts.
4:00 pm – 5:00 pm [Networking] Connect and recap
To finish off the afternoon, connect with other attendees and discuss what was learned. Grow your network and keep the learning ongoing.

It’s how well you connect with the people you support and communicate your understanding back to them. Gaining this knowledge through a variety of experiences in marketing, including digital, events marketing, social media, and client experiences, Nisha continues to hone her skills to create real impact on the companies she supports.
About Maria Martiniello
Maria Martiniello is the Business Development Manager at the Calgary Zoo and has been with the zoo for 4 years. Maria’s leadership position is responsible for all sales activities necessary to build the Calgary Zoo’s year-round business. Her role identifies and develops new opportunities that allow the zoo to expand its diversity of product and program offers. Maria and her team’s activities focus on private events, team builders, adult nights, tourism and corporate sales.
Maria is a pragmatic problem solver, whose sound business, sales and marketing know-how have continually helped to enhance organizations bottom line.
Maria is the 2018 Recipient of the Meeting Professional International Award of Excellence and 2018 Recipient of the Women of Inspiration Innovate Leader Award.
