Calgary Chamber congratulates Premier Smith

The following statement on the swearing in of Alberta’s 19th Premier is attributable to Deborah Yedlin, President and CEO of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce:

Calgary, October 11, 2022 – “On behalf of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, I am pleased to congratulate Danielle Smith as Alberta’s 19th Premier and the third woman to serve in this position in Alberta’s history. The Chamber looks forward to working with Premier Smith and her team as they strive to support Alberta’s economic growth and implement polices that strengthen Calgary’s business community.

“As Alberta’s economic interests are advanced, we ask that Premier Smith consider the landscape businesses are facing, with inflation at a record high and cost increases placing significant pressure on businesses and consumers. Additionally, but of no less importance, certainty and stability are crucial to the ability of businesses to make long-term investments in our economy and lay the foundation for our future economic prosperity.

“We are eager to work with the new provincial government, with the shared objectives of supporting the continued growth and diversification of our economy, providing opportunities for all Albertans and ensuring this province remains a destination for investment and opportunity.”
